Arizona Tourist Attractions

Guide to roadside oddities and other weird, strange and unusual attractions in Arizona.

There's lots of cool Arizona tourist attractions to see!

Check out the Eagles-oriented corner in Winslow Arizona.

Grab a bite to eat at the old Route 66 Snow Cap.

Hop on board the Jack Rabbit for a roadside oddities picture opp or take a horseback ride down the streets of a real old Wild West town.

Route 66, with all its roadside attractions, went through Arizona. And in the days of the Wild Old West, Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday and the O.K. Corral made Tombstone famous.

  • Joseph City - "Here it is!"

Great roadside oddities photo op at the Jack Rabbit Trading Post on Route 66 in Arizona.

Hop on board a saddled jack rabbit at the Jack Rabbit Trading Post.

    YeeeeeHAWWWWWW!!!

Back in the Route 66 days the Jack Rabbit Trading Post had an advertising campaign like the famous Wall Drug in South Dakota, only on a bit smaller scale.

Though they didn't have a sign at the South Pole advertising free ice water, their signage worked and this became a lasting Arizona tourist attraction.

Yep, this Route 66 tourist trap is still open!

Route 66 travelers were besieged with billboards showing a silhouetted rabbit. When they finally got to the Jack Rabbit Trading Post the sign simply said "Here it is!"

    And it is still "here".

Be sure and try the Jack Rabbit Cherry Cider.

The Jack Rabbit Trading Post is off I-40, Joseph City, Arizona. Exit 269, Jack Rabbit Road.

And Here It Is! The Route 66 Map Series THE map for anyone wanting to follow the famous old Route 66.

And of course for those of you who like Route 66 AND ghostly encounters... Haunted Highway: The Spirits of Route 66 is the book to get.

  • Meteor City - Another kitschy old Route 66 Trading Post.

If you're a fan of the old roadside oddities along Route 66 check out the World's Longest Map of Route 66 at the Meteor City Trading Post.

The world's largest dreamcatcher at the Meteor City Trading Post in Arizona.
Not only does the trading post have the world's longest map of Route 66 it also has the World's Largest Dreamcatcher.

The Meteor City Trading Post is located on the frontage road, just off Interstate 40, Meteor City, AZ.

  • Seligman - You can't miss this hamburger and malt place on Route 66. You just CAN'T!!!

You'll never forgive yourself if you pass up this Arizona tourist attraciton.

Along Route 66 many of the roadside oddities and enterprises are no longer there. Progress - the freeway - came along and bypassed many of the kitschy tourist traps that were such popular stops. A lot of them had to close down.

    Not Delgadillo's Snow Cap.

    They are still going strong.

Delgadillo's Snow Cap is a great stop along Route 66 for a good dose of laughter and good food.

It was started in 1953 and keeps the same traditions alive as when Route 66 was THE road, with practical jokes served with the dead chicken.

The first time you try to get in, I bet you choose a wrong door knob...

And when you order a small Coke? Well, let's just say the laughter continues.

Oh, yeah, and watch out for the mustard bottle.

Directions: Delgadillo's Snow Cap is just off I-40 on old Route 66 at the east end of Seligman, Arizona. Phone: (988) 422-3291

What are other travelers saying about Seligman, AZ?

  • Tombstone - An old Wild West town now a definite tourist trap.

Tombstone is one of my favoritest Arizona tourist attractions.

Big Nose Kate's in Tombstone, Arizona.

Mostly just wander around. There's plenty of attractions to see.

Like Big Nose Kate's Saloon, to the left.

If you can, take a horseback ride through town. Tombstone, as viewed from the back of a horse, is THE way to see the town.

Just time your ride a bit better than I did cuz when I was done, the World's Largest rosebush was closed.

The rosebush is at the Rose Tree Inn Museum at 116 South Fourth Street, Tombstone AZ.

I also missed the Merman at the Bird Cage Theatre.

    Sigh.

I guess that just means I have to take another trip to Arizona...

The Bird Cage Theatre supposedly has 140 bullet holes in the wall and ceiling.

    It also has ghosts.

Actually, a lot of places in Tombstone are haunted.

A lot of places in Arizona are haunted!

The Bird Cage Theatre is at 517 East Allen Street Tombstone, Arizona.

Also, try not to miss Boot Hill on Highway 80 North of town.

(Yeah, yeah. Another Arizona tourist attraction I missed on the last trip through Tombstone.)

P.S. The cemetery is haunted, too!

More Tombstone, Arizona tourist attractions here.

  • Winslow - A tribute to the Eagles.

Standin' on the Corner Park in Winslow, Arizona-a tribute to the Eagles.

And while you're in Winslow Arizona be sure and go to the corner of Kinsley Avenue and Second Street. It's where The Standin' on the Corner Park is located.
