There are so many wonderful Colorado tourist attractions it's hard to choose.
There are lots of cool rides including railroads, an incline railway, and mine trains, lots of mines to tour, and all sorts strange and unusual roadside oddities like Canos Castle in Antonito...
Antonito - A Folk Art Environment!
Outside art is alive and well in Colorado.
Canos Castle is a beer can folk art environment made of beer cans, hub caps and other scrap metal.

Antonito is approx. 30 mi south of Alamosa and about 1 hour north of Taos, N.M on State 285 There is no street address for Cano's Castle. It can be found at the corner of 10th Ave. and State St, Antonito, CO.
Antonito is the northern end of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, a narrow gauge steam train that runs from Antonito to Chama, New Mexico.

This Colorado tourist attraction is the nation's highest and longest narrow gauge railroad.
Beulah - Bishop's Castle is a great folk art environment built by one man, Jim Bishop.
There are towers and bridges and even a fire-breathing dragon at this Colorado tourist attraction. (The dragon usually breathes fire on weekends Memorial Day-Labor Day.)
According to the Bishop’s Castle website, weekends are the best chance of watching Mr. Bishop actually building. He is often there building during the week but never on a set schedule.
And here's your chance to leave a piece of your creativity in the Colorado roadside oddities scene.

Cañon City - Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is a 360-acre theme park of rides and nature near Cañon City, CO.
Ride the World's Steepest Incline Railway at Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. Descend in a natural gulch 1550 feet down to the roaring Arkansas River.
The World's Highest Suspension Bridge is also in the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. It is over a quarter of a mile long. and hangs 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River.

Plus...the World's Longest single-span Aerial Tram is in the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, too.
And for even another world's somethingest this Colorado theme park has the World's Highest (and scariest) Skycoaster.

Glenwood Springs - For a real caving experience try the Glenwood Caverns Wild Tour.
You get lighted helmet, kneepads and gloves for this 3-hour tour, parts of which you have to crawl on your belly.
Tip: If you're claustrophobic, it might not be a good idea to try this even if you are into weird and unusual tourist attractions. There is a choice of tours at this Colorado tourist attraction: there's also an in-between tour of the cave which isn't as strenuous as the Wild Tour, but more challenging than the regular guided tour.

Georgetown - An old time Christmas Colorado tourist attraction.
Have you ever had roasted chestnuts around Christmas time? Isn't there an old song about that? Something about "chestnuts roasting on an open fire"? Here's your chance to try them out for a different food taste.
The historic town of Georgetown turns into an old time Christmas town for two weekends in December every year. There are carolers in Victorian costume, horse-drawn wagon rides, a Christmas market, and of course - hot roasted chestnuts.

Manitou Springs - Pikes Peak or Bust!

before? Hop on board for a cool ride up Pikes Peak!
Manitou Springs - Unusual lodgings in an old Victorian hotel.
Ouray - Ride a mine train 3,350 feet into a mine at the Bachelor-Syracuse Mine about 2 miles from Ouray, CO. Gold, silver and other precious metals were mined here.
At this Colorado tourist attraction they also have gold panning if you want to "swing a pan" and "find some color".

Silverton - Old Hundred Gold Mine Tour.
Tour a gold mine-ride a mine train in. See demonstrations of mining, pan for gold and silver (at this Colorado tourist attraction panning is free with the purchase of tour ticket).
Be sure and look up the cliffs of Galena Mountain for the miner's boarding house. It is cabled to the rock so it won't fall off the mountain! Pretty cool!
The miners rode a steep aerial tram up in mine buckets while ore came down.

To get to the Old Hundred Gold Mine take Main St through Silverton. Turn right on County Road 2. Continue on CR 2 two miles past the Mayflower Mill where the road turns to gravel. Then two more miles to the ghost town of Howardsville. Past the "Alpine Loop" sign, cross the creek and immediately turn right onto County Road 4. In approx 1/4 mile., take the left fork onto County Road 4-A. Continue on County Road 4-A 3/4 mile to the Old Hundred Mine.
