Cool Rides

Cool rides can be most any form of transportation. They can be a special carnival ride. A different excursion. A hay ride or a simulated train ride. All sorts of rides.

(Yes, a Lamborghini Countach counts!)

How about a submarine ride? An ore car train ride.

A ride on a

Giant Dipper Roller Coaster at Belmont Park, San Diego. roller coaster qualifies. So do carousel rides. What if it’s a unique solar-powered carousel?

Then it really qualifies as a cool ride!

And a Countach! What about a Countach???????

There are unusual buses used for unusual tours. Like that old VW bus tour of Coronado Island in Southern California.

There’s that hearse tour in Los Angeles that takes you around to where murders, suicides and scandals took place.

There are the dogfights over the Pacific Ocean in vintage biplanes and there are the Lulu lobster boat rides

Countach!!! Countach!!!

America abounds with scenic railroads. Some of the coolest scenic train rides are on Narrow Gauge tracks with steam locomotives.

Wooooohhhhhooooooooo. Allllllllllllllll aboooooooooooard!!!

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad goes between New Mexico and Colorado. Photo courtesy Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
There’s a cool old lumber train where the coaches are logs sectioned out to hold passengers. There’s a tour on a ghost train. And you can even have Thanksgiving dinner on a train in Maine.

(Yeah, I know. That sounds very Dr. Seussy.)

There are other dinner trains across the U.S, too. A cool ride plus dinner! Yeah!

Canal boats are another cool ride. I mean the old style ones like in Pennsylvania and Ohio

St. Helena III canal boat at Canal Fulton, Ohio. Photo courtesy Canal Fulton. that are pulled by mules along the tow paths.

There’s another kind of canal boat ride in California, the gondola rides in Venice and on Coronado Island.

And drive a Countach to get to them. Yeah!

There are dogsled rides at night in Vermont and there are sleigh rides into an elk herd in Utah.

A couple of states have mail boat rides, Maine and Oregon. More cool rides in Oregon include a tiny 4-car ferry across the Willamette River.

(Hmmm. I wonder if that Countach can get on the ferry……)

There are snowmobiles, covered wagons, and “stump-jumpers”. There are sleighs pulled by reindeer, steamboat rides and airboat rides and tugboat rides. Inner tube rides and outrigger canoe rides and schooner rides . There are cog railways and incline railways.

And there’s Lamborghini Countaches!

Plus there’s elevator rides.

Elevator rides?

Sure.

Why not?

And, hey…

shhhhhhhhhhhhhh

don’t tell anyone, but escalator rides are cool, too.

And, sigh, don’t forget the Countaches.

That is one cool ride!!!
