  • Wilmington - Join an archaeological dig - in an amusement park!

    Huh? In an amusement park?

    Yep! The old Delaware tourist attraction of Brandywine Springs Amusement Park is now an archaeological dig.

    And you can join in.

    The Friends of Brandywine Springs conducts archaeological digs once a month.

    Brandywine Springs Amusement Park is now a ruin with archaeological digs you can join.

    Open since the 1800s as a mineral springs and later an amusement park, in 1924 Brandywine Springs Amusement Park didn't reopen. It was just abandoned, left to rot and deteriorate.

    The Friends of Brandywine Springs want to preserve the old park. Not rebuild it, but to create a historical nature walk through what was once a thriving amusement park.

    So you wanna join an urban archaeological dig of an amusement park ruins?
