Hawaii Tourist Attractions

Guide to roadside oddities and other weird, strange and unusual attractions in Hawaii.

Great Hawaii tourist attractions include getting lost in a maze.

Or taking a cool ride – in a submarine!

And top it all off with a stay in unusual lodgings – a treehouse with a stupendous view of the ocean!

  • Hana - Unusual lodgings in Hawaii!

    Not for the fussy.

It even says so on their website!

So, if you want your bathroom to be three steps down the hall…and not 25 feet away in a bamboo structure…

Unusual lodgings in a treehouse in Hawaii.
The treehouse is called House of the August Moon. Isn’t that a neat name for a treehouse?

The main room is 10 feet above the ground. There’s a balcony with two hammocks to lie in and gaze out at the ocean views.

    What a way cool adventure!

Contact info: Hana Lani, Hana, Maui, HI

  • Lahaina, Maui - Steam train through the cane!!

For some reason, I just really don’t think of Hawaii as having trains.

At one time they were a common part of the landscape. They carried sugar cane to the mills and workers to the canefields.

The Sugar Cane Train steams along in Hawaii.

Lahaina Kaanapali Railroad brings back those days of trains with the Sugar Cane Train. Hop aboard for a 12 mile roundtrip between the Lahaina station and the Puukolii station through cane fields and over a wooden trestle, too!

    Whoaaaa. One cool ride!

To take a ride on this wonderful Hawaii tourist attraction, here's Directions to both train stations: Lahaina Station - Take the Honoapiilani Hwy (Rt.30) into Lahaina, turn on Hinau Street, next to the Pizza Hut.Turn right on Limahana Place, the Lahaina Kaanapali Railroad is at the end at 975 Limahana Place.

Puukolii Station: Take the Honoapiilani Highway (Rt.30) to Puukolii Rd. Turn on Puukolii and then take an immediate left after the train tracks.

  • Maui - Dive into an underwater adventure.

Atlantis Adventures is a cool submarine ride, down, down, down into the ocean. If you’ve never been on a submarine ride, here’s your chance!

The sunken Carthaginian II, a replica whaling ship in Hawaii, is now an artificial reef. Picture taken from a cool ride on the Atlantis submarine. For a way cool ride, take the tour past the sunken whaling ship. It’s not really a real whaling ship. The Carthaginian II is a replica that was used as a museum for years, then sunk to create an artificial reef.

Atlantis Adventures is on other Hawaiian islands, too. The dive past the replica whaling ship is on Maui.

  • Wahiawa - Get lost in a maze.

This maze was officially recognized as the World’s Largest maze in 2001.

That makes it double easy to get lost in this Hawaii tourist attraction then. Right?

    Maybe even triple.

It’s huge…over 2 acres with a path length of 1.7 miles. It’s made up of 11,400 different Hawaii plants.

The Pineapple Garden Maze is at the Dole Plantation, 64-1550 Kamehameha Highway, Wahiawa, HI

And no trip to Hawaii is complete without seeing the green flash at sunset! Don’t miss it!!!
