I like animals, so a chance to see some exotic pets is high on my list. So are unusual lodgings and weird food.

And let’s not forget the world’s largest whatevers.

  • Albion - What an incredibly neat zoo.

    The Black African Leopard at the Black Pine Animal Park in Albion, Indiana, Well, actually it’s an animal sanctuary.

    For retired and rescued exotic animals.

    It’s one of the few animal sanctuaries open to the public in America.

  • Bloomington - Weird food in Bloomington.

    Maybe you think doughnuts don’t qualify as weird food?

    They do when they’re SQUARE!

    Started in Terre Haute, Square Donuts are spreading…A franchise opened in Bloomington, Indiana at 531 N. Walnut St.

    If you’re in Bloomington, be sure and look for the distinctive square donut sign with a bite taken out! So stop by and grab one. Or how about a dozen? They're an Indiana tourist attraction you can take with you!

    Same goes if you’re in Terre Haute, home of the Square Donut! Don’t miss out on this weird food! There’s a shop on Wabash Avenue and on Fort Harrison Road.

  • Indianapolis - Unusual lodgings at the train station!

    Here’s your chance to sleep in a vintage Pullman Train Car.

    Yeah. At the train station, no less.

    The Crowne Plaza is a hotel in a train station. And trains still comes there so you get the train noises, too!

    Way cool.

    They have regular rooms but their special rooms are the Pullman cars. They’re the ones to stay in for your way unusual lodgings!

    Course staying at a room in the train station, which is America’s first Union Station, would be considered unusual lodgings, too.

    I know! Do BOTH!

    Two nights in Indiana in unusual lodgings. Yeah!

    While you’re there, search out their white fiberglass mannequins placed around the hotel.

    Can you find them all?

    To start you off, there’s some hobos climbing onto the roof of a Pullman car.
