Massachusetts Tourist Attractions
Guide to roadside oddities and other weird, strange and unusual attractions in Massachusetts.
Weird Massachusetts tourist attractions include lots of mimetic architecture and roadside oddities like diners shaped like old "streamlined" railroad cars and huge milk can ice cream stands.
Or you can check out life as a cranberry at Cranberry World, swing in a sailor's hammock at the USS Constitution Museum, or take a bicycle tour of Cape Cod on an old abandoned railroad bed.
And ...don't forget all those wonderful old lighthouses!

Nope, there is no way a tour of Massachusetts tourist attractions would be complete without taking in at least one lighthouse, maybe even two or three. And possibly even staying in a keeper's house overnight!
That's some unusual lodgings for you!
Not everybody gets to sleep in a light keeper's house!
Cape Cod - Not really a road trip-let's call it a "trail trip"!
Ride a bike through Cape Cod on an old abandoned railroad bed. You can rent a bicycle at The Bike Depot and Trail Center. They also have maps of the trail.
Location: 500 Depot St, Harwich MA. Phone: (508)430-4275
Dartmouth - Salvador's Ice Cream is mimetic architecture in the shape of a huge milk can. Recently undergoing renovations, this historic Massachusetts tourist attraction is now selling ice cream again.
Location: Salvador's Ice Cream is at 460 Smith Neck Road, Dartmouth, MA.

Fall River - Sleep in the murder room at the Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast.
Plymouth - Check out life as a cranberry!
Cranberry World is a Massachusetts tourist attraction not far from Plymouth Rock. There is a demonstration cranberry bog, old harvesting tools and an experimental kitchen. It is part of the Ocean Spray Company.
Location: Cranberry World Visitors Center, 225 Water St., Plymouth, MA. Phone: (508) 747-2350
Salem - Eat at a "true" diner.
Well, depending on your classification of what a true diner is, I guess.
How about if we just say a diner could be a restaurant shaped like a railroad car, has lots of stainless steel, a tile floor, and has swivel stools at a long counter.
The Salem Diner was built in 1941, mimicking the streamlined railroad cars of that era. It is a "single ended" model, meaning it has only one rounded end.
Location: The Salem Diner is at 70 Loring Ave. Phone: (508) 741-7918.
