Nebraska Tourist Attractions
Guide to roadside oddities and other strange, unusual and weird attractions in Nebraska.
In a list of favorite weird and unusual Nebraska tourist attractions Carhenge is probably at the top. Lots of people stop here.
And the city of Alliance wanted to bulldoze this roadside oddity down because it was junk????
Not only does Alliance have Carhenge, but it is also the starting point (or finishing point) of Nebraska Route 2, a scenic byway through sandhills, cattle country, marshes, and corn fields.
One of the unique attractions along the Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway is America’s largest hand-planted forest.
Alliance - Carhenge is a replica Stonehenge created from vintage American cars instead of huge stones.

Directions: Carhenge is 3 1/2 mi. N. of Alliance on NE Hwy 87.
Check for a Carhenge smashed penny machine at a small shop by the parking lot. The machine is right in front of you as you walk in the door.
There is also a Carnastoga at the Carhenge site. A lot of covered wagons came through this area way back when.
Bayard - Sleep in a covered wagon out on the Nebraska prairie.
Follow in the wagon wheel ruts of the Oregon Trail and live like the pioneers of the 1850s for four days.
That's a lonnnnnng time without electricity.
Can you handle it?
Maybe just one day is enough for this Nebraska tourist attraction...

Hebron - Take a seat on the World's Largest Porch Swing.
And it's not even on a porch.
Go figure.
It'll hold 18 adults or 24 kids. I read somewhere it'll hold 32 kids-if they're small!

The World's Largest Porch Swing is located in the city park at 5th St & Jefferson Ave, Hebron, NE.
Minden - Check out America's progress through the decades at Pioneer Village.
North Platte - Buffalo Bill in miniature.
Fort Cody Trading Post is the home of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Miniature Show.
There are thousands of hand carved figures, many animated. It includes cowboys, Native Americans, Annie Oakley, and of course, Buffalo Bill himself.
Directions: The Fort Cody Trading Post is at the Intersection of US Hwy 83 and Interstate 80, North Platte, NE.
