Oasis Camel Dairy
Huh????
A what???
A camel dairy??!!
Yeah! The Oasis Camel Dairy!
Have you ever been to a camel dairy before?
Chances are pretty good that unless you've heard of this weird tourist attraction in Ramona, California, you've never visited a camel dairy before. At least not here in this country.
Not only is this a unique Southern California attraction, it is the only camel dairy in the U.S.
About once a month the owners have a "meet the camels" tour.
You get to learn all about camels.
They're not really dirty, spitty, stinky animals!
You get to watch a milking demonstration.
Are we gonna get camel milk?
We got camel milk!
Look at the long chain on the bucket. The person milking the camel puts the chain around his neck to hold the bucket. The camel is tall enough they can stand up to milk it!
At the Oasis Camel Dairy they make great smelling camel milk soap out of the milk. It comes in all sorts of fragrances: Naked (nothing added), Lavender, Orange blossom and others. (They have a bar in the restroom so you can try it out!)
And......
You can even pet a camel!

That's my friend Debby with the sunglasses on petting Clyde the camel.
Location: The Oasis Camel Dairy is at 26757 Hwy 78, about 8.5 miles east of Ramona, California. Tip: Their driveway is easy to miss. Look for a street sign that says “Camel Dairy Drive” and an oasis painted on the mailbox. Phone: (760) 787-0983.
