Unusual Lodgings in the Round Barn Inn
The Round Barn Inn, 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, is the ONLY bed and breakfast in the world in an actual historic round barn.
Way back when there were around two hundred or so round barns built in Indiana.
Why make a barn round?
Well, one theory is that in round barns there are no corners for the evil spirits to hide in.
Another reason is that the round shape was more efficient. That feeding or milking the cows was much easier and faster.
The Round Barn Inn was built in 1916. It was used mostly to house livestock. It was converted into a house, then, luckily for those of us who like to stay in unusual lodgings, it was turned into a bed and breakfast.
Their rooms are fittingly named for the rural Indiana farming country.
The Farmer’s Suite is their most popular room. It’s huge.
Look at that bed!
There’s also the Hired Hands’ Room and the Milk Maid’s Room.
And while the Farmer’s Suite may be their most popular room, the neatest room by far is the Hayloft Suite. You want unusual lodgings, stay in the Hayloft Suite. Of course any room in the old
Round Barn Inn
is unusual lodgings, but the Hayloft takes it a step further.
Talk about a great getaway!

This 3-room suite is 1100 square feet and has a king-size sleigh bed and a hot tub. It’s furnished with a mixture of antiques and some of them are even for sale!
That’s something different!
In the morning, a hearty home-cooked country breakfast is served in the downstairs dining room of the Round Barn Inn. Nummmmy…
Then it’s off to go exploring the
Indiana
countryside!
