Wisconsin Tourist Attractions

Guide to roadside oddities and other weird, strange and unusual attractions in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin tourist attractions that positively flourish are the state's outsider art. I read somewhere that there’s more folk art environments in Wisconsin than any other state.

Whether that's true or not, there sure are a bunch of art environments. The House on the Rock is right up there at the top of the list of Wisconsin roadside oddities.

And what about the Lost Pyramids of Atlantis? What's that all about?????? Talk about weird and unusual…

For something a little bit less odd, but still different--I mean not everybody gets to do this!!!-since it's the Dairy State, you gotta go on at least one cheese-making tour! It's a wisconsin tourist attraction must!

  • Baraboo - The Land Of Evermor is a folk art environment of strange metal sculptures.

Within it resides the Forevertron, the World’s Largest metal sculpture.

More outsider art resides across the road from the Evermor sculpture park. There are seven large metal sculptures. All these Wisconsin tourist attractions are saddled up and ready to ride.

    Yeeee-HAW!

The Land of Evermor sculpture park is on Highway 12 across from the Badger Army Ammunitions site and next to Delaney's Surplus. It is about 10 miles South of Baraboo or 45 minutes outside of Madison WI.

More things to see and do in Baraboo.

  • Fon du Lac - Ghosts, secret passageways, candlelight tours - all in an octagonal house .

  • Fremont - Union Star Cheese Factory tour.

Sample a fresh curd right after it comes out at the factory. Tours run every morning, Mon-Sat. Phone: 1-800-354-3373

  • Hollandale - Another Folk Art Environment - Nick Engelbert's Grandview.

One of the many sculptures at Nick Englebert's Grandview, a visionary art environment in Wisconsin.

    Outsider art galore.

Every inch of the outside of his farmhouse is covered with concrete inlaid with shards of china, glass, buttons, shells. The yard is filled with weird and unusual concrete sculptures. To the left is one of those sculptures.

Grandview is 1/2 a mile west of Hollandale Wisconsin on Highway 39.

  • Lake Delton - At this roadside oddity, it's like the laws of nature have gone awry.

One of America's many mystery spots is the Wisconsin Wonder Spot.

Here, you can't stand erect. Or walk in a straight line. Water flows up. And objects balance all weird.

The Wonder Spot is at 100 Scott Drive, off of Highway 12.

  • Lake Mills - Lost Pyramids of Atlantis?????

    There are pyramids in Wisconsin!!

  • Spring Green - The House on the Rock.

This Wisconsin tourist attraction has a bunch of roadside attractions all in one place.

There's a dollhouse building, a circus building, streets of yesterday and the world's largest carousel. The carousel doesn't have one horse on it, either.

The unique Infinity Room has walls of glass that project out over the valley. There’s glass in the floor at the end of the room and you can see the forest floor 156 feet below.

The writing on the picture says :The only Inifinty Room in the world - jutting out an unsupported 218 feet with 3,264 windows for walls!
